Chef Mia Yan began her culinary journey in her mother’s kitchen, leading to a home-based catering business. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from De La Salle University and a Diploma in Culinary Arts from the Center for Culinary Arts, which she obtained in 2002.
With over ten years of teaching experience, Mia served as an instructor at the Magsaysay Center for Hospitality and Culinary Arts. She has consulted for companies like Jollibee Foods Corporation and Heinz, focusing on food innovation.
Mia has received multiple awards, including a Gold Medal for Live Cooking at the National Food Showdown Philippines and medals at the Food and Hotel Asia International Culinary Challenge.
In 2014, she became a Worldchefs Certified Continental Judge. After working with Compass Group in Singapore, she returned in September 2024 as the Executive Sous Chef of Tsukiji Restaurant Makati.
